“They” in English is the third person plural. In Chinese, there are three situations.
- 他们 (tā mēn), refers to males or a group of people including males and females
- 她们 (tā mēn), refers to a group of females
- 它们 (tā mēn) , refers to a group of animals, such as cats or dogs
You can say “他们都是好人 (They are all good guys)” when there are both women and men in a group.
